Out with the bath, in with a walk-in shower

The challenge

A high bath that was getting in the way

Adrian’s bathroom no longer worked for him the way it once did. Getting in and out of the bath meant lifting his legs over a tall side, and it took more effort every time. He wanted to keep looking after himself in his own home, and to know the room would still work for him if he needed more help one day.

Our solution

A walk-in shower where the bath once was

Our team took out the bath and fitted a walk-in shower to replace it. A thermostatic valve holds the water at a steady, comfortable temperature. The addition of a half-height care screen stops the water escaping, while still letting someone help from outside the shower if necessary in the future. We also waterproofed the whole room, so the odd splash is never something to worry about.

The result

An accessible bathroom he can rely on

Adrian can now step straight into his shower rather than climbing over the side of a bath to wash. He has his independence back day to day, and a bathroom that is already set up for extra help in the future, without needing any further changes.
